Acquiring or improving digital skills: online training coming soon

Friday, 18 October 2024

The partners in the Skills to Connect project are working on an online course to train people in basic digital skills. They recently met in Porto.

On 26 and 27 September 2024, POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ-PLS took part in the transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ SKILLS TO CONNECT project, organised by the Portuguese partner Obra Diocesana de Promoção Social. In Porto, the partners were able to take stock of their collaboration and the progress of the project. The design of the ‘online course’ is in full swing: the partners are co-designing the content of its 17 teaching modules. Each of these 17 modules will be presented in the form of a micro-course with different chapters (a little video, a little reading, a little listening) and ending with a test of the knowledge acquired. Once online, this course will enable anyone interested in acquiring or improving basic digital skills to learn and then share their new knowledge with their beneficiaries, colleagues or loved ones.

For the project's future ‘toolbox’, the partners have simultaneously launched a survey of senior citizens in Belgium, France and Portugal, to find out more about their needs and improve the digital services available to them.

The first results of the project will be presented at the conference to be held on Thursday 21 November 2024, from 10am to 12pm, in France, at the French Red Cross Accelerator 21, located at 21 Rue de la Vanne, 92120 Montrouge. All the project partners will also be present, so come and join us! Registration is compulsory and free of charge.

Supported by Erasmus+, the SKILLS TO CONNECT project aims to enable current and future professionals working with senior citizens to acquire or improve basic digital skills. Implemented between October 2023 and November 2025 by five partners from three European countries (Belgium, France and Portugal), the project aims to produce three outputs: an online course, a toolbox and a white paper of recommendations. These products will help to understand the difficulties involved in using digital technology and to create relevant educational solutions.
